Lawrence — For so many families, pets are more than animals — they’re companions, protectors, and sources of unconditional love. When it’s time to say goodbye, the loss can feel overwhelming. A new locally owned business, Lawrence Pet Cremation, is stepping forward to help families through those difficult moments with compassion, respect, and care.
Founded by Husband and Wife; Scott and Sam Bronoski — Lawrence Pet Cremation serves families across Lawrence, Kansas City, and Topeka and everywhere in between. The idea grew from the founders’ own experiences of loss and the recognition that families in the region needed more supportive options.
“Every goodbye is hard, but it doesn’t have to feel cold or impersonal,” said Sam. “We wanted to build a service where families feel cared for just as much as their pets do.”
The company provides home pickup and return, transportation from veterinary offices, and specialized equipment for handling larger animals, including horses. Families may choose private cremation, with ashes returned in a memorial urn, or communal cremation, where ashes are not returned. Keepsakes such as clay paw prints, ink paw prints, and nose prints give families a tangible way to hold on to memories.
For Scott and his wife, the inspiration for Lawrence Pet Cremation was personal. “When we lost our dog Max, it broke us,” Scott’s wife, Sam, shared. “What made all the difference was knowing he was treated gently, with dignity. That experience is what sparked this vision — making sure other families have that same peace of mind.”
The founders emphasize that their business is more than a service; it’s a promise. Lawrence Pet Cremation is family owned and operated, available seven days a week, and committed to transparency in pricing and process.
“Grief looks different for everyone,” said the companies Afterlife Care Specialist, Cory. “Sometimes there’s laughter through tears, sometimes it’s just silence. However it unfolds, our role is to walk alongside families with respect.”
From Lawrence to Kansas City to Topeka and everywhere in between, Lawrence Pet Cremation is building trust one family at a time. Their guiding principle remains simple: to provide comfort, clarity, and dignity during one of life’s hardest goodbyes.
