Lawrence, KS: Lawrence Police seized 33.08 pounds of methamphetamines and 1.26 pounds of cocaine yesterday, thanks to the exceptional efforts of a Lawrence Police Department K9 handler and his partner, “Shadow.” Early yesterday evening, K9 Shadow, a highly trained dual-purpose patrol dog, and his handler were engaged in a routine security sweep at a local transportation facility when Shadow indicated to the presence of illegal drugs in a piece of luggage.
Upon inspection, officers located the substantial cache of illegal drugs. Investigators will be forwarding the seized substances to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) laboratory for comprehensive testing to determine if fentanyl is contained within the drugs. Unsurprisingly, no one claimed the luggage in question. No one has been taken into custody, but investigators are working diligently to identify the owner. The investigation remains ongoing.
