Lawrence – The Kansas Department of Revenue Office of Special Investigations, leading a joint investigation with Kansas Office of the State Bank Commissioner, Kansas Attorney General’s Office, Kansas Highway Patrol, Internal Revenue Service, and United States Secret Service, conducted a search warrant on Lawrence Kia, Dream Automotive, and Dream Nissan for alleged Theft, Making of False Information, and conspiracy charges. all entrances into these properties will remain blocked off for some time.
The investigation is currently ongoing.
Lawrence Kia has been investigated before, with alleged reports from 2020 of falsified loan applications, being settled for $14 million in 2023.

“The Kansas Department of Revenue Office of Special Investigations is leading a joint investigation with Kansas Office of the State Bank Commissioner, Kansas Attorney General’s Office, Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP), Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and United States Secret Service (USSS) on allegations of Conspiracy, Theft and Making False Information concerning Lawrence Kia, Dream Automotive and Dream Nissan in Lawrence, KS. A search warrant was executed at the business locations on September 4, 2025. The investigation is still ongoing, and nothing further can be released at this time.”
