It's a special deployment for more than a dozen members of the Kansas National Guard, as they head east to Washington D.C. and the inauguration of President Barack Obama next week.
According to the Kansas Adjutant General's office, 16 soldiers will deploy in a support capacity for the inauguration January 21, joining about 5,000 National Guard members from across the nation.
*13 soldiers of the 184th Intelligence Wing, Wichita, will be operating a Single Pallet Expeditionary Kitchen.
*1 soldier from the Joint Forces Headquarters in Topeka will provide Operations/Plans support.
*1 soldier from the 287th Sustainment Brigade, Wichita, will provide Geospatial Information System/Common Operating Picture support.
*1 airman from the 190th Air Refueling Wing, Topeka, will provide Public Affairs support.
