Jackpot Lottery Ticket Sold in Northeast Kansas

Kansas lottery officials say a multi-million dollar jackpot ticket was sold in northeast Kansas:

The Kansas Lottery urges all players with Hot Lotto tickets from Saturday night's drawing to check their tickets right away. A single ticket sold in Kansas matched all numbers in Hot Lotto to win a jackpot estimated at $9.43 million. The ticket was sold in northeast Kansas

The winning numbers from the January 12 Hot Lotto drawing are: 13-15-21-34-35 Hot Ball 4.  The holder of the winning jackpot ticket should sign the back of the ticket immediately and put it in a safe place until the ticket is claimed.  The winner may want to consult with an attorney and/or financial adviser before claiming the ticket.

Among the decisions the winner will have to make is whether to take the $9.43 million jackpot prize as an annuity paid out over 24 years (25 payments) or as a cash lump sum. Should the jackpot winner choose the cash option, he or she would receive approximately $7.15 million, minus mandatory federal and state withholding taxes.

The northeast region of Kansas, where the ticket was sold, includes these 21 counties: Marshall, Nemaha, Brown, Doniphan, Riley, Pottawatomie, Jackson, Atchison, Geary, Wabaunsee, Shawnee, Jefferson, Leavenworth, Wyandotte, Johnson, Osage, Douglas, Franklin, Miami, Morris and the northern half of Lyon.

This is the fifth Hot Lotto jackpot hit in the Kansas since Kansas joined the game in 2006.
