War on potholes heating up in Lawrence

There are times during the winter when you almost feel like naming familiar potholes, the ones you see every day, the ones that jar your nerves, spill your coffee and play havoc with your suspension and brakes. The city feels your pain and is launching a six-million-dollar campaign to get rid of as many potholes as possible next year. One way the Public Works Department will do that is by microsurfacing some streets that are the worst offenders. Those include Connecticut, Kentucky and Sixth Streets. And yes, this does mean more traffic cones in your future -- but hopefully fewer potholes, too.
