Want to get some exercise and do a good deed at the same time? Then Lawrence wants you this winter.
Have you got the energy, the strength, the guts to get out there and shovel snow covered sidewalks for neighbors who can’t? The city is trying to match up more energetic residents with neighbors who can’t shovel snow. It’s the Safe Winter Walkways program, and all they’re asking is that you commit to shoveling snow off public walks in front of homes for the winter season. You don’t have to clear the road—just the sidewalk and a path to the house. It’ll help kids going to school, elderly folks trying to get to the supermarket and people getting to work. And think of all those post Thanksgiving calories you can burn. Check out the city of Lawrence website for more details.
