One-Third of KU students use cell phone in class

It won't surprise you that students love cellphones. But how MUCH they use them is highlighted in an eye-opening new survey of K-U students…

Ninety-four percent of students use their cell phones to send and receive text messages every single day. Sixty percent say they're addicted to their phones. That's probably not a big surprise. What may be, though, is that in addition, fully half of the students polled say they've read their friends' and even significant others' text messages - without their knowing. How completely accurate the poll is may be affected by the fact that it was conducted on Facebook. Regardless of the margin of error, here's a telling revelation about today's collegians: A third told pollsters said they use their phones at least once in every single class, every day.
