If you head south on U-S 40 and 59 downtown, be prepared for a slowdown later this morning...

The Kansas Department of Transportation says traffic will be disrupted in the southbound lanes of US-40/US-59 today due to construction -- and that disruption will happen pretty soon. Crews will begin overlay work on the Kansas River bridge in downtown Lawrence starting at 9:30 this morning. The southbound lanes will be reduced to one lane, and traffic is expected to slow down during that time. Construction crews are scheduled to work during daylight hours only, so allow extra time if you have to drive through there or, even better, go another way. Work is expected to be completed in late November.
