It looks like it’s just about time for Lawrence to pay the piper when it comes to keeping its SRS offices open.
The state had been planning to close down the Lawrence division of Kansas Social and Rehabilitation Services, until a deal had been reached with local leaders. Lawrence, like a few other municipalities, is going to help pay to keep SRS open. Coming up at its meeting tomorrow, the Lawrence City commission is going to vote to authorize the mayor to execute a cooperation agreement with the state…that agreement means the city is going to fork over 225-thousand dolllars to help fund SRS.
