A national pipeline is expected to be the focus of some protests in Topeka today. KLWN’s Jill Nado has that story.

It’s called the tar sands pipeline…and it’s supposed to run from Canada all the way down to Texas…bringing it right through Kansas. The TransCanada pipeline would carry thick gooey oil…so the U-S State Department is holding public hearings and one is scheduled to start at noon in Topeka. Environmentalists are concerned about the damage construction and spills may do, so the National Wildlife Federation and other environmental groups will be rallying outside the hearing at the Kansas Expocenter. Another protest against the pipeline was held outside the White House for two weeks and led to over a thousand people getting arrested.
