EPA rule unobtainable for KS Utilities

The Kansas Attorney General has taken up a battle with the Environmental Protection Agency.

A-G Derek Schmidt says there’s no way Kansas Utilities can meet a new EPA rule that requires them to install new emissions control gear by the start of the new year. So—he’s filed a lawsuit challenging E-P-A’s Cross-State Air Pollution Rule. He says the new equipment would cost hundreds of millions of dollars- money the companies Schmidt says don’t have right now. And if they don’t install the equipment, it would mean Kansas residents would have to be much more expensive electricity from out of state, or just go without power.
