The latest group of notable Kansans is out in honor of the state’s 150th anniversary.
The latest five notable Kansans are Atchinson born Amelia Earheart—the most famous female pilot ever. Then there’s Clyde Cessna, who started Cessna Aircraft Co. in Wichita in 1927. There’s Samuel Crumbine who served as state health secretary for 20 years, C.B. Schmidt—who influenced thousands of German Mennonites to settle in Kansas in the 1870s. And there’s Joseph McCoy the 18th century cattle baron, who became known as the Real MCCoy because of his reputation for reliability. The 25 Notable Kansans were selected by the governor’s blue ribbon panel for history. The last batch of notable Kansans is going to be released on September 15th at the kansas state fair.
