Mayor Aron Cromwell and the commissioners are going to be recognizing the hard work of Just Food—the food bank in Douglas County. They’re declaring September 5 through the 12 to officially be Just Food Fight Hunger Week. Just Food serves food to about two thousand people every month. It was only this past February that Just Food was facing a financial disaster and on the brink of closing. Once word got out, the Douglas County community hunkered down and donated over 115 thousand dollars to keep the Food Bank going. Just Food says it is now solvent for the coming year.
