Kansas drivers running from police are causing as many crashes as ever. KLWN’s Jill Nado has that story.
A tougher state law and a new policy for police in pursuit hasn’t helped cut accidents. Back in 2005, a new law made it possible to charge an individual who killed someone while running from police with first-degree murder. And even though police departments have changed their pursuit policies... The Wichita Eagle reports the most recent data shows five people were killed in police-pursuit crashes in 2009. That number is a bit above the average for the decade...and above the average before the change in the law and in police policy.
