Lawrence religious leaders fight SRS closing



Religious leaders are joining together to fight the closing of the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services in Lawrence. KLWN’s Jill Nado has that story.

Christian, jewish and muslim leaders are holding a prayer vigil Saturday, hoping to change the governor’s mind…Governor Brownback has ordered that the office be closed in order to save money. Local officials say the closure will damage the community because thousands of needy residents will lose services The faith leaders will be gathering on the steps of the Plymouth Congregational Church on Vermont street at 10 a.m.
