Federal Disaster money coming to Northeast Kansas Counties
Federal money could start to become available this week to northeast Kansas towns and families who were hard-hit by recent natural disasters. Jack Cameron reports.
When President Obama declared several northeast Kansas Counties disaster areas on Friday, it set in motion a number of ways that monetary aid can start to flow to the areas that suffered the most. Hardest-hit was Lyon County, where the town of Reading lost many of its homes and businesses as a tornado ripped through in May. Riley, Osage and Pottawattomie are other northeast Kansas counties where federal disaster relief money will start to become available. The disaster declaration means, among other things, that funds will be available to the state, some local governments and to certain non-profit organizations to replace or repair damaged facilities.
